EFG Broiler model

Broiler production costs are complex but will usually be specified by each company. But in order to calculate the income, and hence profitability of the enterprise when using a particular genotype and feeding program, the outcome of the given feeding programme, in terms of weight gain, feed intake and body composition, must be predicted. The Icon EFG Broiler model is capable of making these predictions.

For more information, see the Introduction to the EFG Broiler model.

Broiler Model Sections

  • Theory

This section provides an introduction to and features of the Broiler Model, the theory of and determining genetic growth parameters and a list of references.

  • Experiments

The Experiments sections assists with solving a flock experiment, setting multiple values for a variable in a flock and guidelines for designing a flock.

  • General

Information about BM Feeds input folder, Growth constraint, editing a histogram, troubleshooting the EFG Broiler Model and units used in the program.

  • Model Inputs

The Broiler Model allows you to define a breed, enter inputs for economics, feeding and environment and to set up cropping, feeding and stocking schedules.

  • Results

Results of the current experiment (solution) are shown in tabular form and various reports are generated in Microsoft Excel or as graphs.
