Model Inputs
EFG Broiler Model basic screen layout
The panel on the right displays details of items selected in the inputs section (directory structure top left) that holds all the input items that were defined.
Management
All histogram bars – describing the extent to which husbandry influences the potential growth of broilers – are at the maximum if conditions are perfect.
Environment
Histograms represent daily temperature values, atmospheric pressure at pertinent times of the year, humidity as well as light and dark cycles.
Revenue
It’s possible to specify the percentage of the crop that is to be sold on a Live Weight basis, or after being Dressed or Processed as portions or meat and skin.
Feeding Schedule
To describe a feeding schedule, it’s necessary to specify the names of feeds, and enter restricted feeding details and rules determining when feeds are used.
Daily Blend
The Daily Blend % feature enables users to evaluate a feeding programme that changes daily rather than having individual feeds being fed for a fixed time.
Defining a Breed
A new user should initially use the default values provided, and refine them as experience grows to reflect the breed being simulated more accurately.
Economics
An economics item allows the editing of down time and fixed / variable costs that will affect the economic calculations made during and after the simulation.
Restricted Feeding
Schedule daily feed restrictions by adjusting the histogram values according to your requirements.
Cropping Schedule
The EFG Broiler Model allows partial cropping of birds at a specified day or weight. The cropping schedule controls the length of the simulation.
Stocking Schedule
The floor area is calculated using the information given by the number of birds specified at the start, and the stocking density.
